this is a pic i took of barbara's ex-boyfriend while he was delivering a poem soliloquy — 'for barbara from jason, for once' — to her from the patch of cut grass below her boudoir window on the south lawn outside our summer home on the vineyard. he was a nice guy but he eventually broke up with her once he found out that the cerebral palsy was terminal. i 'get it' but i still think it's insensitive to break bond with a woman simply because of neurological problems. that said, dating a woman who regularly wears her father's jockstrap could be considered a deal-breaker from a certain conservative perspective. i'm sure there are plenty of more men in barbara's short future — we can only hope. in any case, that jockstrap is not a good fit. he needs more support than that. also, this is not a jockstrap and i don't know what it's doing in my collection. 2014.
