On field study in South America and working on my dissertation ethnography on the Fukayi, I found this vagina in a ditch near the "divinity well" where the elder Fukayi women (who wore what can only be described as bizarre hats) "divined" milk from water. There were basically no penises among the Fuykayi, very few men in general, and so stumbling upon an "undivined" vagina was not terribly usual. I didn't think much of this vagina — it didn't "do anything" for me — but when I later learned that this vagina was in fact a penis with balls — if you actually look closely at the photograph (right) you can make it out — I took an interest. You might say that this vagina "pricked" my interest. After submitting the first chapter of my study of the Fukayi to my dissertation advisor (a 45 page literature review), I decided to reorient the entire project around this vagina. I came to really like "Vagina Penis w/ Balls," but I finally decided not to officially induct it into my collection — a ceremony that is both time consuming and water intensive — but I took this photograph to prove that this penis is a vagina. I later published my study of the Fukayi with Duke University Press under the title, "Divined Milk: Jizzy Juicy Juice." I would later abandon academic ethnography (and a cozy job at CUNY Staten Island) for mid-level management at Staples corporate headquarters in Burlington, Massachusetts. Later left for Supercuts. The scrotum on this vagina is *exactly* like my ex John's scrotum. Labia can be fussy. 2009. Book published in 2013.
