peter, 8.5" — j ranciere

andy pink, near lincoln, nebraska —

dear bitch in lincoln, nebraska:

i probably know you. if that's true, just send an email to my yahoo address. if i don't know you, and in case you think i'm still in chicago, let me alleviate your ignorance: i've escaped from chicago to kansas city and i am close to you. if you want to go out for a drink — or just talk — that would be cool. but stop stalking my site. it's upstaging my stalking of p*trick. i'm only going to be in kansas city for one more night — i may or may not be in sioux city for the weekend, and even if i am i'm not telling you, unless i already know you — so catch me while i'm in kansas city, else it's unlikely we'll rendez-vous until i meet with your lawyer with a court warranted order for access to your ip address and collection of my used jockstraps.

are you hot?

i would write a novel but my discourse is overly punctuated by whimsical asides and asiatic fashion advice such that narrative flow would be disrupted and unhinged.

at what point in the future of history will amazon.com start charging per pageview on its site? — perhaps with discount for prime membership and/or amazon visa cardholders? (can you believe "cardholder" is an official word?)

as it turns out, the book is going to have to be printed at 8.5x11 rather than 6x9 which totally sucks, this for reasons of space. but the illustrations will be bigger, it will ultimately be easier to read, though not to hold, and i'll charge $69 for the total cake. dave made the good point that the size is kind of like a manual or textbook — which is a bit in the proper direction of the project, mine, in the book, to pervert the neurotic, to make a wonder boy out of a trevor. all's all, the book will hopefully be out by the end of august, and dave will resize the front and back cover (interior flaps dropped, no hardcover option) — but i'm resigned to this redesigned book and i'm ok with it.

the summer plan — i only teach mondays and am screening films for the most part — had been to work on the capital project ("ruins of capital") as a properly university press published book, with side work on "the pervert's manifesto" to be published on this site. now, it looks like all i'm going to be able to really work on is the fact sheet, which is fine. i'll focus on the fact sheet.

there is a boy in this panera (fenway) that i recently fell in love with, about 3 minutes ago — he shot me the look i wrote about the other day, "why do you get to be gay?" — this is such a common gaze, it's a look mixed with other looks, including "who's the faggot?" — but the "why do you get to be gay?" is internal to the "who's the faggot?" — if only because "who's the faggot" is a question in suspension.

of course, biochemists might quickly respond: the gay gene. how can there possibly be a gay gene if the propagation of the species by heterosexual reproduction is the telos of homo sapiens? — and we're still here? the gay gene must be more mutant and monstrous than any cancerous reproduction of disarrayed cellular mismanagement — no wonder he can't look in the mirror —

"why did i have to be gay?"

i'll be skyping with pete later. i'm so proud of him. i've already gotten him a gift, though the defense won't be until september. peter is surely the most intellectual man in my life — even more so than trevor — and though i am regrettably smarter than both of them, i have a great deal of respect for peter. he did rape me in rochester, new york (which is perhaps how things will turn out with the bitch from lincoln, nebraska) but i can forgive him even if miss curzon never would.

"Aesthetics has already known for a long time that images will never reveal as much as words when it comes to anything of any magnitude that oversteps the mark: horror, glory, sublimeness, ecstasy. So it's not a matter of picturing the horror but of showing something that precisely has no 'natural' image — inhumanity, the process of negating humanity. This is where images can 'assist' words, can make heard, in the present, the present and timeless sense of what they say, can construct the visibility of a space where that is audible."

— Jacques Ranciere, "Figures of History," pp. 49

tomorrow, i will post the pics of the signs from the sign plot, at night, friday, about 4:15am. you will see, tomorrow, this negation of humanity — specific to nobody in particular, both subject and object, all of us, at the same time — except our common situation, in the present. now, tomorrow —

translation: this website is about the (un)representability of inhumanity. not yours, specifically, but ours. miss nebraska, if you could only have seen those signs, live and without person — must have been a sight that morning, wish i could have been there for it — what a fucking gift —

peace in the east, ladies, it's hard to be a red sox fan in white sox country,

mister andy pink

the real issue with google analytics is that it consistently reports massive interest in michael williams on the offshore of nigeria. at first i told myself a joke about how linux is free — which is funny enough — but then i told myself a joke about white liberals on safari with their ipads — which is less funny. in any case, if the nigerians off the course of their own coast want some advice: split with the yoruba. just ask achebe, the "problem with nigeria" has always been, as even a native would say, tribalism — contra junger!
